Does that mean 180 foot tall wave? What would cause that, if no storms?

No...It means a 180 foot Transient...90 feet up plus 90 feet down would be a 180 foot Transient (think roller coaster)
Faulty sensor or “local” event. It could be anything from an explosion to a 10 lb meteorite or maybe a submarine (submerged) snagged its mooring cable.
Like I said “unexplained”...
