It’s the whole system of over-priced advertising on Twitter that is a consequence of their inflated numbers.

I've wondered the same thing about Drudge. I have not been to that sight for a couple of years - used to be multiple times a day. He used to publish his hit statistics monthly and he was usually number one worldwide. However, if you left his screen untouched, it would periodically refresh every few seconds - maybe every 30 seconds. I've wondered if he counted each of those refreshes as a hit. I usually leave my laptop or desktop up and running multiple days in a row - I'm willing to bet others do as well. That would greatly inflate his numbers.

I’m no expert on such things but I wouldn’t be shocked if it were true.
