So how is a low flying jet with a big heat signature match up against the S-400 Missile System.....(not too well...Titanium bath tub notwithstanding)
The S-400 is designed to engage aircraft, UAV’s, cruise missiles and includes terminal ballistic missile defense capabilities.
The S-400 supports four different missiles: the very long range 40N6E-series (400 km), the long range 48N6 (250 km), the 9M96e2 (120 km) and the short range 9m96e (40 km)
The 9M96E2 flies at Mach 15 (around 5,000 meters per second or 18,500 kph) and can engage targets as low as five meters off the ground.
It can also pull up to 20 Gs (for perspective, a human can withstand no more than 9 Gs with special pressure suits and helmets and for only a few seconds).
It is designed to knock out penetrating aircraft and missiles flying “off thedeck” or just above ground and neutralize cruise missiles
The Air force brass have been trying to get rid of the S-10 for years
S-10 = A-10.....(fat fingers...sorry)
I had an S-10 once. 2.8l, 5 speed.
The A-10 has a specific role to play. If it used appropriately it is an insanely devastating weapon. It should never ever be scrapped.
If an S-400 is deployed in theater we would obviously not use the A-10.
There are ways of getting rid of S-400 systems. Once that happens A-10’s can support the troops.
Getting rid of the A-10 would be incredibly damn stupid.
Apparently I’m smarter than the perfumed princes in the Pentagon. My wife would disagree.
