When the wife and I moved from lovely rural IL, Dec 2016 (where I had lived in a 5 mile radius in Mercer County for 62 yrs), we were rolling southbound on I-57 about 50 miles from being out of the state. I remember seeing a state trooper parked in the middle, watching southbound traffic. As I went by with the 26’ u-haul, he looked right at me, probably thinking, “there goes another one”.
He probably was thinking just that.
I remember bumper stickers, in Houston area during the mid-80s, saying….Detroit (or, IL) …. Last one out, turn the lights off.
