Can we just get our leaders to pass more anti-CME laws

Certainly that would fix the problem.

We Must enact Sanctions on the Sun immediately because the threat of inducing GeoMagnetic storms is an hostile act.

I call for a Bi-Partisan Resolution immediately

I have family members these days who have trouble navigating without GPS. Hope this does not portend some larger X in the future - they may not be able to find their way home from 30 miles away - grin! Thanks for posting.

Ha! Had to look up Mapsco, but yeah - I put an ink and paper atlas in their car for ‘just in case’ - not kidding.

Climate change, COVID, monkey pox, nuclear war mongering and now solar flares. Sheesh.

The 1659 telegraph lines were made of wax and melted on a hot day.

There is no “recent CME”. The Bastille Day event was 22 years ago.

Those interested in such things get realtime info from space weather.com, not BS sites.

The particles take about three days. They don’t travel at the speed of light.

I think you might not understand what 73 means. Certainly not 88.

>>1659

First thing the Pilgrims did upon landing at Plymouth Rock was to establish a reliable telegraph network.

I know what ‘73s’ means.

‘88’ means ‘love (or hugs) and kisses’.

Shades of 1659 when the telegraph lines melted.

Wow. Telegraph lines melted and they weren't even invented till 1843. That's a powerful flare.

Don't worry, there are generations of alleged students who cannot read the time from a clock or write cursive. Don't even think about long division without a calculator or OMG algebra.

I think it was a typo. The poster meant the Carrington Event.

I have long believed we might see an EMP or similar event that would fry most semi-conductors on the planet.

We could see destruction of modern life on a scale we cannot even imagine.

There are very conflicting opinions about how much an EMP would permanently disable.
