Gillian was shot on 35mm film stock, as most shows were. Stations were equipped with special telecine projectors and the film image was converted to video and broadcasted

VideotAPE was used for mostly stuff shot exclusively in a studio setting. ITs big advanage over film being it could be played back immediately whereas the time to edit and process film is counted by days if not weeks.
