Great pull. Interesting fact about Michigan. There were vinyl presser all over mid Michigan. I was at an estate sale and found all kinds of Elvis Costello album covers pre folding and glueing. Apparently there was a big pressing operation in Owosso.

Wow, if I didn’t already think the world of my fellow FReepers, I sure do now. To all of you who gave me the benefit of your knowledge, a huge THANK YOU.
I don’t know if the wires going from the pole to the main breaker are aluminum or not, but these temp off-and-on events seem to occur between around 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (what OG&E considers “peak” hours). The idea about running a cord from my computer to the other side of the house is a good one, which I think would be worthwhile to try.
I’ve read a little about the 120 / 240 “two pole” thing, and the fact that the bumps are always “partials” makes me lean toward that explanation. Most importantly, it’s not just my house; it happens to the entire town. Very weird.

Am I the only one who enjoys the seasonal heat (at least the Florida sort), and doesn’t find it oppressive?

Nope. I live in the Niagara Falls area, so it doesn’t get Florida hot, but I love the heat and sun and I don’t mind the humidity. My golf companions have told me on more than one occasion that they think my thermostat is broken. I sweat, so I think it works. I just don’t mind it.
The hottest and most humidity I ever felt was in New Orleans for the bridge Nationals in late July of 2010. The second we stepped outside, our bodies were covered in a thin film of moisture. The humidity was over 95% every day and it didn’t rain. We glistened all the time outdoors and almost froze our fingers, feet and fannies off in the air conditioned playing rooms.
The fact that the off/on thing is happening to many people at once rules out a wiring issue on your individual house.
But it’s still a very weird issue.
I wish I hadn’t clicked on that link about a CNN reporter eating human brains with cannibals. I’ll take every expletive in every known language over that. Maybe a warning please?

I recall Maxey taking some heat, but I can’t easily fault Steve Bannon’s original crew of regular panelists.
They are all mad men when it comes to patriotism, warts and all, and like Rasheem some have gone on to move their own mountains and kinda born to fight fires.

Dallas suberbs have had upward of 104 since before July 4th and now looking at 106 throughout all this week.
No rain, no breaks from heat. Extraordinary temperatures, extraordinarily enduring.
Blackouts are blamed on no winds, causing the Chinese wind machines to fail production of energy.
Nevermind that we’re floating atop monumental oil deposits.
People aren’t screaming for oil production, though. They think gas comes from a pump, so they gritch about the price. And milk comes from the store, so, “Jus’ gimme it.” 🙄
