A homemade muzzle loader with electric igniters of some sort instead of caps. The amount of smoke in the video shows that it was probably black powder.

Looks like a severe case of hesitation was a prime factor in his death after the first shot apparently missed. Reports said he was hit twice, doesn't look that way.
