Galatians 5:13 For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh (sexual desires), but serve one another through love.
Galatians 5:14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Galatians 5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.
Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
Galatians 5:17 For the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, in order to keep you from doing whatever you want.
Galatians 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.
Galatians 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior,
Galatians 5:20 idolatry, witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions,
Galatians 5:21 envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Galatians 5:23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Galations 5:24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Galatians 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit as well.
Galatians 5:26 Let’s not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.
And then this in Galations chapter 6:
Galatians 6:1 The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him.
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, this he will also reap.
Galatians 6:8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
Galatians 6:9 Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary.
Galatians 6:10 So then, while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
I am convinced these are not merely coincidences.
Sorry Charlie, don’t “twist” scripture to match your agenda.
TRUTH! I am the Way, the TRUTH and the Life.
I am TRUTH!
The bible says NOTHING about abortion specifically, but Exodus 20:13 covers it, You shall not murder. So why all the gymnastics?
The TRUTH is enough. Jesus thought so.
The passage DOES relate to the subject. Fleshly desires are what cause the desire for abortions. It is relevant.
One must exercise self-control and use one’s sexuality properly, within marriage, as the Bible teaches.
I do not know how you can be that blind. It is clear that all that practice immorality will not inherit the kingdom of God. Abortion is 95 plus percent immorality upon immorality. To argue otherwise shows a lack of understanding.
The Bible is God’s Word. In His Infinite Wisdom, God does not itemize every possible sin humanity could come up with.
God’s Law is founded upon His Character, which is LOVE.
True Love does not lie, steal or murder. Sin is simply rebellion to God’s Law and to focus on all the iterations of that rebellion is to miss the point.
Jesus said that if one offends one of these little ones, it would be better for him to tie a millstone around his neck and be cast to the depths of the sea.
There are so many truths so implicitly revealed in God’s Word, but they are only discerned spiritually. Spiritual blindness has so pervaded our culture, that many cannot spiritually discern their right, from their left hand.
If such an elementary list of itemized sins did exist, abortion would definitely be in the top ten, yet it is clearly expressed in the sixth commandment, “thou shalt not murder”.
Sexual immorality gives birth to this murderous practice of trying to not bear any consequence of such consequential behavior and it is only the beginning of a long list of spiritual, emotional, psychological, familial and physical consequence of sexual sin.
Great scripture from Galatians, one of many in God’s Word that support choosing life and not death. Thanks for sharing. Point well taken and corroborated.
Yes, I am aware of that passage as well. Thanks. The Galatians passaged does relate to the subject, it’s just that folks can’t see it...or don’t want to.
I can’t find “do not kill what’s in the womb” or anything like that in scripture.
In reality God knows a puppy, a calf, a goat or a fish before it’s born. The standard is what has a soul. And the only reference of a soul entering a body is when God blew the breath of life through his nostrils and man became a living being.
I am truly against abortion, but I am amazed by the contortions some folks go through, to use the Bible, to prove a point.
The basis of needing an abortion is almost always sexual immorality. The Galatians passage aptly covers that. With proper living, abortions would be a non-issue.
Sorry, Paul, who never knew Jesus, may pontificate to his Churches, but Paul never mentioned abortion.
There are many reasons for the need/desire for abortion. Sexual immorality may be one of the many. But not the only. And sexual immorality in the end may produce a wanted child. Thus the reason this scripture is being taken out of context.
