***I think my favorite is probably Patrick Stewart’s version although the Alastair Sim version is the one all others are measured by***

Yes, Stewart's production is good -- they are pretty much all good, amazingly. George C. Scott's version is memorable for me, partly due to the director's use of 'lines' - directing the viewer's eyes to the center of attention. {his is not the only version to do this but the most notable for that.} Albert Finney's version, a musical, is a little involved and changes Dickens' script more than most of the others, but still is clever and has some delicious special effects.

Even Jim Carey's Disney version holds up well; my son is sure that a big chunk of Disney staff was fired for producing such a true period piece. 😊 We also have the Muppet version with Michael Caine, amusing. Michael Caine could act out the ingredients on a cereal box and be considered for an acting award! tee hee

We have the colorized version of Reginald Owen but the colorization of the Alistair Sim production is stunning to me {with some experience with visual media.} The older black and white Seymour Hicks film is worth some attention; a shame that they had no talent for special effects at that time. We also have a black and white version with Frederic March and Basil Rathbone, worth a mention.

tang-soo mentioned the Magoo production, also amusing. Jim Backus' voice is a show all in itself. This version also has some interesting songs.

We are big fans of the Dickens story and it is a big part of our holiday celebration! 🧐 🥳
