The only people who are really really really upset by this are left leaning suburban Karens. Those people were going to vote Democrat anyway and they were going to vote anyway.
Most people do not realize that women are far from monolithic on this issue and its mostly women who are the most ardently pro life. There are lots of pro life women who will be encouraged by the overturning of Roe. Besides, in contrast to the panic porn and street theater pushed by the Left, when people see that the Dobbs ruling does not ban abortion, it merely returns it to the states, a lot of people will think its not that big of a deal.
The general public will be far more motivated by $5/Gallon gas, by soaring grocery bills, by a slowing economy and a terrible economic outlook. As someone in the 90s said, its the economy stupid.
Never underestimate the ability of the Republican party to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Women have always been the core of the pro-life movement. Anyone who’s been involved in retail politics post-Roe can’t be unaware of that, though Cupp may simply be ignorant, rather than lying about this, it’s hard to tell with her.
Support for abortion on demand is limited to a thin layer of elite women, and young men (Dave Portnoy being a prime example).
The Dems see this, correctly, as a great fund-raising issue, but handled with an ounce of brains, it’s a massive vote-getter for the Republican base. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out in the coming months and years.
