Man shoots Subway worker dead over ‘too much mayo on sandwich’

A man who complained there was too much mayonnaise on his sandwich opened fire at an Atlanta sandwich shop, killing one employee and injuring another, police said.

The shooting happened around 6.30pm Sunday at a Subway restaurant attached to a petrol station in downtown Atlanta. Police said the man argued with the two female workers before shooting them.

“This was a very tragic situation that did not have to occur,” Atlanta police Deputy Chief Charles Hampton Jnr told reporters on Monday.

He said a 36-year-old man believed to be the shooter was arrested near the restaurant on Sunday evening after someone whom police are not identifying provided them with information. Hampton said police are not immediately releasing the suspected shooter’s name because of the ongoing investigation.

The woman who died was 26 years old, Hampton said. The other woman, a 24-year-old, was shot in front of her five-year-old child and is in critical condition at a hospital. Hampton lamented the trauma that that child will have to deal with. “It’s frustrating that we have a 26-year-old female who is no longer with us,” Hampton said. “It frustrates me that we had an individual with a firearm who decided that was the answer to resolve a conflict over a sandwich."

The city’s interim police chief Darin Schierbaum said on Sunday that arguments are the leading cause of the homicides his department has investigated in 2022.

Imagine that.

Should I bother looking, or should I trust my psychic powers?

I can sympathize with the guy. I hate mayo and frequently say trying to sneak it into my sandwich is a killing offense. But I usually don’t have a pistol handy. Outlawing mayo would prevent over-mayo killings. Guess this guy really, really, doesn’t like mayo-—even less than me?

Well to much mayo. That’s a good reason to kill someone. I like mayo but always order light mayo. Everytime they put it on they put what looks like way to much. I eat it. If you don’t like mayo and say no mayo then I could see returning the sandwich but wow. Thats just crazy to shoot someone over that. Wonder if the person was on drugs. Or something outside the sandwich..

They aren't releasing the shooter's name, without actually reading the article (which would be in violation of the unwritten FR TOS) I'm guessing there's not photo to be seen.

At least that's what my psychic powers say...

“Should I bother looking, or should I trust my psychic powers?”

Funny how we’ve all developed a very high probability of knowing, isn’t it? Must be that climate change granted them to us.

And, of course, the fact that the media is so d*mned obvious in avoiding providing some of the facts helps a bit.

Too much mayo on the sandwich? If it was me I would have just asked them to remake the sandwich or just cut my losses and think “better luck next time.” It’s a sandwich.

What drugs had this guy been taking?

Chief Hampton is “frustrated.” Wonder how the chief deals with a sandwich loaded with krap he didn’t order? While it’s not a killing offense it should be a lesson to fast food fixers to pay attention to orders. Remember how bezerk people get when they get peanuts by accident? I’ve seen guys fling stuff that was way outside what they asked for.

Some people should not be allowed to leave the house unsupervised, let alone while carrying a gun.
They lack the basic ability to reason.

Depending on where the Subway (or any of the fast-food joints) is located, the rule should be to never ask for mayo unless you have a phlegm detector with you...

RE: Some people should not be allowed to leave the house unsupervised, let alone while carrying a gun.

Democrats will use this incident as an example of banning right to carry laws.

The article doesn’t mention if the gun he used was legal or illegal.
