Here’s an email I got from Bill Taylor, my SC Rep for Aiken County:
Dear Friends:
Please allow me to share my perspective. Itβs not an understatement that Tuesday’s runoff election could decide the future of education in South Carolina for decades, yet it will likely be decided by a minuscule turnout.
The state’s school chief is a position that requires a bold leader with policy experience β a person who will collaborate, find solutions, and speak the truth. We need a common-sense conservative who will listen to parents, support teachers, protect taxpayers, work with the General Assembly and stand in the gap for our kids.
I have worked closely with ELLEN WEAVER in Columbia β she knows how to build a team to get things done. She will put her heart into serving all the people of South Carolina with honor and excellence.
Her opponent, Kathy Maness, is NOT a conservative β far from it. Maness has led efforts to stop school choice, promote mask mandates and raise local taxes. She joined Joe Biden at the White House for his big budget-busting trillion-dollar spending bill that spurred inflation and ignited all those high gas prices. Maness represents a ‘more of the same’ philosophy in education. Maness is your pick if you are happy with our state’s public education system continuing to rank near the bottom.
Everyone knows that our public education system has struggled here in South Carolina for decades. Look no further than the post-COVID period, which shows two-thirds of our students aren’t reading or doing math at grade level. This is a monumental crisis.
ELLEN WEAVER is the bold leader we need. She is a proven conservative who will listen to parents, support teachers, protect your tax dollars, and push forward with innovations to improve our kids’ educational opportunities.
If you, our parents, grandparents, teachers, and others, seriously want the education system you tell us you want, then we need a State Superintendent of Education that shares the same prospective.
That is why I urge you to join me in voting for ELLEN WEAVER for State Superintendent of Education TOMORROW, June 28.
I trust Bill Taylor. He’s a straight shooter.
thanks i’m leaning to weaver since she worked for DeMint.
the major strike against her is that i got a robo call yesterday from tim scott endorsing her and scott usually only endorses McConnell’s establishment types.
