Racism: It’s not just a White Man’s game anymore.
Colorism (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discrimination_based_on_skin_color) has a long and interesting history in the US and around the world.
Light-skinned blacks in the US have been higher on the “pecking order” than dark-skinned blacks.
The dark-skinned blacks are finally getting tired of it.
Grab the popcorn!
Many years ago there was a song written by a light-skinned, thin-lipped, Cuban black man named, “Bemba Colora.” There is no direct translation for that song name but I interpret it as being, “Big, liver lips,” and the intent of the song is, “Your big, red lips.” It is about the big, red lips of a dark-skinned, big-lip black man. The song is ridiculing the dark man. That song is/was Celia Cruz’s theme song which she performed originally with Tito Puente. She was very black.
I also know that there are many light-skinned, black people in the Dominican Republic who are the offspring of blacks and Caucasians. They hate both the dark blacks AND the Caucasians! They think that they are ‘special.’
What a screwed up world we live in, huh? ;-)
