I get the impression, some Trans teens, if not most of them are using the Trans mindset as a vehicle for personal rebellion and as a way to shock their parents.

The basic reasons for becoming a Beatnik, a Hippy, a Psudo-Marxist, a wannabe-Buddhist, a Born Again Christian were similar, to rebel against the parents, to put the parents on defensive and on unfamiliar ground. Given time, many of these Trans will outgrow it on their own. The fad will fade.

It seems to me that it’s so common now because it is a coping mechanism for social anxiety and depression. It’s especially common among awkward teenage girls, so the social contagion hypothesis seems very plausible to me. It’s a mind-virus that preys on the vulnerable

I think a boy who says he is a girl is usually rejecting his father, or at least denying his father's masculinity. Often the boy's mother is woke and has an underlying hatred of men due to her own psychological issues, and she usually approves of, and even encourages, the transitioning.

I can say with confidence that this applies to the one case I know personally (who is what people call a "trans woman", but I refuse to call him a woman when he's not). I suspect that it also applies to Elon Musk's transitioning son, from what I've read.

I think you're right. I was watching a youtube video by a girl who transitioned to male, and then back again, complaining at one point--rather offhandedly-- that it was really not that exciting after all.

The reason was prolly more about the fact that you were boring, unattractive, and no one paid any attention to you.

Kids do things to be noticed or be a part of a group or clique. The trans thing is just that - a clique.
