The founders were technocrats of their time. Not only did they use the word “arms” because they knew weapons would develop, but at the time, the Puckle Patent was already on the books. The patent was for the predecessor to the Gatling gun. The first one was a little un-wieldy since it was flint-fired but a turn of the crank fired all six barrels. The Brits never got to face one or a lot more Limey family trees would have ended right there.
