Hey John,
Apparently you forgot those are your bosses!
“Hey John,
Apparently you forgot those are your bosses!”
Cornyn was reelected to a 6 year term in 2020. He will be 74 in 2024, when he next faces the voters.
It may be that Cornyn has already decided he is not going to run for reelection. If so the voters are no longer his bosses. He now works for himself, possibly his family, and for anyone who can enhance his personal lifestyle during his remaining years in Washington and during retirement.
There is a long history of Republican senators abandoning conservative principles and becoming “bipartisan”. In North Carolina we’ve seen Richard Burr, retiring this year, vote to convict President Trump during the Senate trial, support the same gun control bill Cornyn has lined up with, and constantly defer to Dem Senator Mark Warner when Burr was chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Portman and Blunt, also retiring this year, have also signed onto gun control.
I have written to my Senators and Representatives on numerous occasions expressing my opinion on various subjects and how I would like them to vote. In all cases I have received a basic form letter/email response that basically says thanks but I will vote as I see see fit. It does seem that they have forgotten who they work for. Yet are quick to send out letters asking for campaign donations touting what they have allegedly done on my behalf. I respond politely and say NO I am not sending money as you are not voting as I or people wish you to do on many issues.
