Exclusive — Rep. Reschenthaler: Democrats Know ‘Virtually Nothing’ About Firearms They Wish to Ban

Democrats know “virtually nothing” about the firearms they seek to ban, according to Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, who called out House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler for his ignorance on the subject earlier this week.

On Tuesday, during a House Rules Committee hearing on Democrat-led legislation to restrict law-abiding citizens’ Second Amendment rights, Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) asked Nadler what the “AR” in AR-15 stands for.

No different than when Carlson caught Carolyn McCarthy trying to explain what a barrel shroud is. I’ve been shooting guns for a while. I still don’t know what one is.

Anywho, I could swear I read somewhere that while doing some anti-gun research, a professor made up the term “assault weapons”, out of thin air, and they’ve been suing ever since as if it were the gospel.

I know all will find it amazing, but when using search terms “professor assault weapons terminology research” the results are about 18yr olds getting guns. Shocking.

As usual, they know nothing about the things they try to control.

Across the board.

What’s sad is that so many of these people are migrating to states that, for generations, have been the complete opposite to everything the alert stood for. And they’re doing it with the red carpet being rolled out by ‘Republican’ administrations, allowing those that destroyed the northeast and west coast to ruin great places.

It has been this way for over 40 years. You can do a 1-1 comparison of firearms shown in action movies and legislation being passed restricting the same guns depicted.

As usual, they know nothing about the things they try to control.

The list is long and depressing. Virtually every aspect of progressive social "transformation" has been a disaster, from border to school curricula to defense to race hatred to "green" energy where there's much more green than energy. Gun control is just another example of self-righteous ignorance on parade.

[Republican] Rep. Thomas Massie... correctly responded, “['AR' stands for] ArmaLite, the original manufacturer.”

Thank you!

I’ve been saying this for DECADES! Challenge these morons to their faces in public. Ask them to explain what a “clip” is. Hold up a cartridge round and ask, “is this a bullet?” They May freak out and duck. Then tell them “AR” is an abbreviation for Armalite Rifle!

My favorite is to just ask a lib, “Exactly what is an ‘Assault Rifle?” And see what they say.

Then ask them just what “Semi-automatic” and “auto-loader” are — and what’s the difference.

Then ask them if a lever-action rifle is an assault rifle.

Watch the heads explode.

...a professor made up the term “assault weapons”, out of thin air...

I thought it was the media, but either way, it is a made up term.

"Assault rifle" has a specific military definition, but "assault weapon" can be anything they want it to be. But even then, they're idiots and use the terms interchangeably.

Pretty much true of everything they attempt to legislate. Health. Medicine. Economy. Business. Safety. Education. Transportation. Immigration. National security.

They are only experts at one thing: Ways to screw the American taxpayer. They wrote the Kama Sutra on that.

...Then tell them “AR” is an abbreviation for Armalite Rifle!

Except it's not.
AR-9: shotgun
AR-13: aircraft machinegun
AR-17: shotgun
AR-22: blank firing device
AR-23: sub-caliber training device
AR-24: handgun
The former head of ArmaLite (Mark Westrom) based an advertising campaign on simple historical fact:
"AR Stands For ArmaLite!"

As the great Ronald Reagan said, “It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.”

We need to contact our people in the various firearms manufacturing businesses regarding if there any truth to the claim that they marketed their firearms in catalogs with the terms “assault weapon” or “assault firearm” as claimed by Josh Richman of the San Jose Mercury News in January 2013.

What does that prove, that the term was in use in 1986?

From Wikipedia:

“The origin of the term has been attributed to legislators, the firearms industry, gun control groups, and the media.”

and:

“One of the earliest uses of the term, or a similar term, in its current meaning was in a bill introduced by Art Agnos in the California State Assembly in April 1985 to ban semi-automatic “assault firearms” capable of using detachable magazines of 20 rounds or more.”

It doesn't matter what the topic is that the Marxistocrats are always pressing for, The common and overriding emphasis is "Control," which is 180 degrees opposite to personal liberty, no matter whether it is regarding outspokenness, possession of personal defensive items, education, religion and morality in government, immigration law, unionization, etc.

Deprivation of personal freedom "for the good of all" is the core of imposing the Marxist/Stalinesque system of "Control" of every aspect of an individual's existence. Adherence to the Golden Rule is of no essence to the Socialist isn't it?

Toleration of another person with another opinion and a different way of life, with different consequences, as long as it doesn't conflict with another's style, is the basis for the Declaration of Independence. but that is not the theme of today's Socialistic Mobocrat.

Actually, it was Josh Sugarman who came up with the non-sensical term, and he wrote that they needed the public’s confusion over firearms to finally ban them.

Calling the AR-15 style rifles “weapons of war” is no different than than saying a car with wide tires and a hood scoop is a “dragster.”

And today, the lies continue. The paragon of virtue, the former congresscritter who was cavorting with an intern who turned up dead, is now claiming that “the current AR-15s are far more ‘deadly’ that the M16s issued during the Viet Nam war!”
