While Trump has earned the right of first refusal giving him the right of first look, he should not have an unchallenged right of return unless he can persuade us that he learned something from his first time around and will behave differently next time.

When will Donald Trump account for his colossal missteps and acts of omission during his first term? To wit, in case you weren’t paying attention:

The only people who want Trump to stop talking about voter fraud are those who want it to continue.

Exactly. They want this subject swept under the carpet, or ridiculed so they can do it again unhindered.

“ I don’t fault him for not quite finishing the wall. He got much of it ”

No he built about five miles of new wall. The caravans are streaming through because there’s no border wall. It was Trumps No 1 promise, his signature promise. Too bad it didn’t happen.

Trump has already accomplished the best things that he can do for a guy who is what he is - a destroyer. He destroyed the once-powerful Clintons. He destroyed the once-respected Bushes. He destroyed the notion that network news is not fake. He destroyed the idea that America should do what the world thinks instead of what is good for America first. He destroyed the myth that Republicans must apologize their way to success.

Those are lasting political and societal victories. Whether he runs or wins again or not, I'll always be grateful for those.

I'd likely vote DeSantis in a primary, but I will vote for The Don if he wins it.

Trump also made some real bone-head moves and has committed some brutal errors I don't forgive him for because he will not acknowledge them as mistakes: TrumpRyanCare, the TrumpSwampVax, etc.

Personally, I wish more Trump fans would acknowledge that the fight is going to be long. Trump himself, even if elected again, is not going to finish most of the things we'd like done.

Instead of treating him like a savior, we should treat him like a brave and impure example. Instead of badgering other good folk into not running against Trump, we should badger those folk into promising to be like Trump in the good things he's done and promising not to make the giant mistakes he has made. Same for Trump. Talk of him deserving another term is intellectually disgusting. He is nowhere near perfect.

I hate this aspect of him, but clearly he is populist. He relies on public opinion to drive many of his positions - we are simply fortunate that public opinion favors many things that are good for America. So don't be afraid to criticize Trump when he's wrong. There is nobody Trump is afraid to criticize. If you want to be more like Trump, then tell him when he's wrong.

Trump is NOT going to solve all problems. He is not going to live forever. There is a fair chance he won't even run again. Don't give up the ship if he does not. Learn the good lessons he taught us and hold those truths he exposed to us. And learn from his mistakes. Then vote for people who seem to have learned those good things and who will strive to avoid the bad things.

People who would give up on America if Trump is not our next president are people who will become part of the problem. He is not the last hope. Personally, I'd love to see a somewhat Trump-like personality but with a much more 10th Amendment agenda.

5 miles huh? Where do you get your info?

“About 450 miles have been built or reconstructed so far, about half of the 1,000 miles the president promised to build throughout his term.”

https://www.12news.com/article/news/453-miles-of-trumps-border-wall-have-been-built/75-259b88b7-e596-4067-8d87-8c646ebc7674

There are adtually 738 miles of border, so he got more than 1/2 of it protected deslite huge resistence from both parties and ,awsuits trying to shut him down.

Well said!

I was too young to vote for Reagan but agree with your sentiment. To be fair, all blame should be on voters who have elected RINOS for decades and continue to do so. That’s the conversation that should be had :)

“No he built about five miles of new wall.”

If the previous “wall” was barbed wire or rickety 8 ft high corrugated sheet metal, and was replaced by a hardened very high new wall, THAT COUNTS! It is a disingenuous lie to make believe it doesn’t.

The point is, Trump promised to build a border wall. He didn’t deliver. That’s why there are huge stretches of the border that are open and caravans are streaming through. No wall got built in those areas. Don’t deny reality. Stop listening to Hannitys lies about “promises kept”. The no 1 promise didn’t get kept, and GOPee mouthpiece Hannity wants you to ignore that

Big deal. Vast areas of the border still have no wall. If Trump had built a border wall as promised, there’d be no place for the caravans to come through

You really think they'll just go with stuff they used in a Gubernatorial campaign?

I think DeSantis is the best governor we've seen in a long time.

It's early, and frankly, not knowable yet, to say he'll handle the 24 hour non stop national/international slime engine of the left.

“ Wow- again, he was cheated out of his position, “

Yes, he let McConnell and Paul Ryan roll him. I know. He’s not good at implementing his agenda in the face of RINO resistance. It doesn’t help that he appoints RINOs to his administration and endorses the very RINOs who block his wall - like Mitch and Romney

We need a MAGA leader who can get things done. That’s why I’m for Desantis in 2024. He’s pro wall and he doesn’t hire or endorse political enemies.

“as he promised”

You can’t be taken seriously. Most “promises” are what they intend to TRY to do, NOT what they “guarantee” to do. Our system of government with checks and balances does not allow “guaranteed promises” from a candidate. The POTUS is not a King or Supreme Dictator.

Exactly. Throwing him under the bus because he got cheated out of office and couldn’t finish because of it is petty. He still the best candidate we’ve ever had simp,y because he bot something nearly done that no president before him even tried to do. Thay puts him league’s ahead of others who promised and never even bothered trying to do.

What magic wands will DeSantis wave if the Senate or House don’t vote to approve legislation he wants? What magic wands will DeSantis wave if judges overturn his EO’s or the legislation he signed into law? What magic wands will DeSantis wave if the Senate confirm his appointees?
