*** >> I am feeling a bit mortal of late.

Oh pish posh! I'm just dancin' with round 2 of cancer long enough to find out how your solar system is working. How much $ do you save? Can you sell your extra power back to your electric company? The money part - that we're going to need a yearly figure AT LEAST***

👴 Ooops! That didn't work out too well. I just meant that I am feeling my age - I will be 79 in two weeks! {all well wishes welcome! 😄} - and feeling rather fatigued. It might just be the excessive temps. I have much work to do outside which is proving to be a challenge... BUT: I try to get to the gym at least once a week, better twice. Just a reminder: I had serious lower back surgery in February - a smash success! - but it seems to have aged me a bit. {{All invitations to go dancing declined - for now!}}

re: the solar: it is a completely independent system, not hooked up to the power company at any point. I can use it right now to run some daily needs to save a little on electricity. People should know that these solar systems that cut down the power bills are a good idea and usually pay for themselves in about 7-8 years, BUT when the power grid goes down {for whatever reason} the user's power system goes dead!

That shortcoming can be overcome by adding a special inverter and batteries - often adding about $20,000 to the cost of the system, depending on how much power usage is anticipated during outages. I understand that in California the power customer is required to donate all his solar power to the grid supply; presumably they get to use some of it to limit their power bills. {?}

My system was in anticipation of 'rolling blackouts', punishment to be meted out to good citizens for not turning everything over to the govt. I finished my system the end of last year; now I hear we should expect 'rolling blackouts' in various places this summer. Florida is likely high on their punishment list.

Let's make mashed potatoes of that! 👌😣

I said before the 2020 election that the Dems making Bitem their nominee was to show us that they could nominate an ape AND get it elected and there is nothing that we can do about it.

It is worth noting that ABC has just posted a tweet that the Dems will hold the House and gain 4 Senate seats this November. They since took the tweet down. . . . What does the future hold?

That would make a nice meme but would get you cancelled on twitter.

I read that the lobbyists got the FL legislature to hatch a scheme like this, but that Gov. DeSantis vetoed it (Whew!)

Here in Palm Beach county, it’s impossible to remain totally unconnected to the grid. FP&L has to get their piddling monthly administrative fees from every customer! Still, I shouldn’t complain - some things are up to each municipality to decide, and the town next door does not even allow residential solar installations, if you can imagine that!

Our solar system took them long enough to complete (yes, we got 9 batteries, which was what took them forever to synch up to the system) and now it’s done and working, but still too early to tell how much extra it makes to sell back to the power company (at wholesale of course), or how soon it will pay for itself. Like you, we got it also partly in anticipation of blackouts, so as not to have to rely on the gasoline generator, which was a pain.

Oh, my DH turns 78 next month, but evidently doesn’t have as much energy as you do. (Silly pun intended.)
