10,000 steps is a good number to shoot for each day. I've been tracking my daily steps for about 20 years now. In the early days I strapped a pedometer to my belt but these days, your mobile device keeps accurate track of your steps.

It takes me about an hour and fifteen minutes of walking each day to reach 10,000 steps. Not necessarily all at once. I find myself parking in the far corner of store parking lots so I can get extra steps in. Much less stressful than jockeying for a space close to the store and then dealing with getting your car dinged and having people constantly walking behind you (as you are trying to back out).

I'm always looking for ways to increase my daily walking. Keeps me healthy.

10,000 steps is roughly 4.7 miles for me. It varies on your stride length.

“...and then dealing with getting your car dinged...”

Ahhh, so you’re an anti-Dingest. Not accepting your fair share of dings is racist. But, on the other side, your longer walk across the parking lot offers income opportunities for the poor yutes that prey on those exposing themselves to the vicious parking lot environment. (Note...I also park “way out”!)

Good job! I do 1.6 miles, about 3300 steps. Too hot during the day now, so I go out about 1 AM.
