Shootings expose divisions on gun issue in faith communities

Marius Annandale kneels while praying during a Second Amendment gun rights rally at the Utah State Capitol Saturday, March 27, 2021, in Salt Lake City. After a gunman killed 19 children and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, 2022, several pastors and rabbis around the country have challenged their conservative counterparts with this question: Are you pro-life if you are pro-guns?

After a gunman killed 19 children and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, several pastors around the country challenged their conservative counterparts with this question: Are you pro-life if you are pro-gun?

One of those faith leaders is the Rev. Steven Marsh, senior pastor of Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods, California. That’s where a gunman, who officials say was fueled by hate against Taiwan, opened fire on May 15 at a luncheon organized by members of the Irvine Taiwanese Presbyterian Church, killing one and injuring five others.

“I’ve heard people tell me I’m not Christian because I’m pro-choice,” Marsh said. “I ask those people: How can you be pro-life and not support getting rid of assault rifles? You can’t pick and choose where you want to be pro-life.”

Obviously, this idiot cannot tell the difference between murder and an inanimate object.

It’s a moral fallacy to compare the life of an unborn child to the life of a maniac who has vowed to slaughter as many innocent people as they can. It’s not a complicated distinction.

Every abortion ends a life.

Every gun sold doesn’t end a life.

See the difference?

the truth is that there is no division in the true body of Christ.

Jesus says if you’re trying to serve two masters, God and Mammon, the Kingdom and the Secular, you will eventually come into unity with one or the other.

Freeper mkmensinger put it this way.

“ Obviously, this idiot cannot tell the difference between murder and an inanimate object.”

Clearly not qualified to stand in the pulpit. Further, Romans 13 makes it extremely clear that these actions towards gun confiscation are not just illegal, they are in rebellion against God.

Romans 13 tells us clearly that God has appointed a set of laws we are governed by. In the US, that law is the Constitution which is rather quite clear about the fact that congress can’t create laws to confiscate firearms. Any congress that does so are criminals in violation of the law, and by extension, placing themselves in opposition to God’s order.

No ambiguity here, as "society" sickens more and more each day, I'll use my Constitutional Right to protect me and mine however I deem necessary.

I didn't create the monsters...neither did my (or anyone else's) guns.

“I ask those people: How can you be pro-life and not support getting rid of assault rifles? You can’t pick and choose where you want to be pro-life.”

Exactly! And that's why we also need to ban cars (to save 50,000 lives every year), sugar (another 100,000 lives), and fatty foods (over a half million lives); while we're at it, let's also ban water (to prevent 4,000 drownings). After all, you can’t pick and choose where you want to be pro-life!

If we DIDN'T have the RKBA (2nd Amendment), They wouldn't have the FREEDOM to Be religious (as their choice).

You can’t pick and choose where you want to be pro-life.

Yep. And you can't pick and choose if you blame the instrument or the person committing the deed. In that line of reasoning, all medical instruments used in abortions should be banned.
