Ukraine Belatedly Admits ‘Heavy Casualty Rate’ In Appeal For More Weapons From West
Ukraine’s government has thus far kept its military death toll a tightly guarded secret, now four months into the conflict, even as heavy international scrutiny has focused on Russian losses amid prior widespread speculation and assertions that Russia was “losing”.
However, there’s been a noticeable shift in Western media and among the national security pundit class over the past weeks as Russian forces begin to solidify hold over nearly all the Donbas, and as the final Luhansk holdout city of Severodonetsk’s fall looks imminent.
After seeking to hide or downplay information which could give the appearance of sever Ukrainian losses and battlefield setbacks, it seems taking daily average casualties public is geared toward getting more arms from the West.
“Everything now depends on what [the west] gives us,” he told The Guardian. “Ukraine has one artillery piece to 10 to 15 Russian artillery pieces. Our western partners have given us about 10% of what they have.” In appealing for Kiev’s Western backers to send more, particularly the United States, even after billions spent on military aid, he stressed that the military is fast running out of munitions:
“We have almost used up all of our [artillery] ammunition and are now using 155-calibre Nato standard shells,” he said of the ammunition that is fired from artillery pieces.
“Europe is also delivering lower-calibre shells but as Europe runs out, the amount is getting smaller.”
Fifty-three billion and they want more, more, more.
I am praying for Ryan, hoping for a miracle, not denying current reality, but knowing that miracles do sometimes occur.
A better man than Zelensky would have sat down at a table with Putin three months ago and ended this thing.
It was all so forseeable how this would end.

Just out, really bad CPI - 8.6%. Worst number since December, 1981. Employment numbers 6,000,000 lower than it should be! I told you so. Should never have happened!
So they got our money & our weapons & are losing. Wondering if they are even using the weapons & money to fight? Not that they were ever going to defeat Russia anyway.

Supreme Court Approves Counting Undated Mail-In Ballots In Pennsylvania
The 6-3 ruling could create broader implications for close races in November’s crucial midterm elections.
“Over the objection of three justices, the Court restored a federal appeals court ruling that said disqualifying ballots received on time but lacking a handwritten date on the return envelope would violate federal voting rights,” ABC News reported. “Pennsylvania state law requires that voters include a date next to the signature, even though mail ballots are typically postmarked and dated again by election officials when they are received. The appeals court concluded the absence of the handwritten date was an immaterial error.”
“The Supreme Court did not elaborate on its decision to allow counting to proceed, and it is not binding precedent. But it does suggest that a majority of justices support the view that discarding ballots over small administrative errors or omissions would harm the franchise,” the report added.
In the dissent, conservative Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Neil Gorsuch wrote they would have stayed the appeals court ruling in order to review the merits of the dispute, which he said “could well affect the outcome of the fall elections.”
