Melian, that meme reminds me of a high school history teacher who is more responsible than any other person for my political awakening. He achieved this by being THE FIRST PERSON to criticize Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
In the course of a lecture, he referred to FDR’s approach to “fixing” America’s problems as piling problem on top of problem in the form of new programs only to rescind them later.
The public was grateful for the relief that provided despite the original problem not only remaining but now wider in scope and more intractable.
In that instant, I thought “If everything I’ve been taught about FDR and The New Deal is wrong, what else in my education is wrong? What other “myths” have I blindly accepted as Gospel?”
If not for Mr. Baker, I would’ve rejected outright the revelations of the last 5 years or so. Mr. Baker introduced me to “Fake News.”
