I had read that his mom told him that he would do something like that years earlier. Like a God prophetic word from his mom to guide him at the right moment of history.
Nixon had to directly order Sec of Def James Schlesinger and Deputy Sec of Def William Clements, whose oil industry ties put them directly on the side of Arab Muslims.
Some versions of the story even had Kissinger stalling for a week so Israel would bleed enough to accommodate Arab Muslims.
I think it was likely that Nixon’s being forced to resign was the Deep State’s payback for not bowing to their entitlement to determine foreign policy.
