I always did that, doesn’t work. The shock of the hot water separates the shell.

That is a good way. I like to bring water to boil and put the eggs in with care. Lower the heat a bit to simmer. 9 minutes. Drain then put cold water in the pot. One egg in the morning with fruit and maybe toast is pretty darn good. Used to be cheap....

That’s how I do it.
After 10 minutes, change the water to cold.
Perfect, every time.

That’s how I do it, except that I don’t turn off the heat completely. After it comes to a boil I turn it down as low as possible for 15 minutes. Then put in a bowl of ice water. Perfect peeling. But don’t use eggs that are super fresh, as that membrane does NOT want to let go.
