IRGC Colonel Hassan Sayyad Khodayari Assassinated Outside His “Highly Secure” Tehran Home
Excerpt:
Two Assassins targeted IRGC Colonel Hassan Sayyad Khodayari outside his home in Tehran on Sunday. The area was said to be “highly secure,” since the street runs by the Iranian Parliament. Apparently not as secure as they thought, as two assassins on motorcycles shot Col Khodaei five times as he sat in his car… in broad daylight. Iranian President Raisi vowed revenge on the perpetrators.
IRGC Colonel Khodayari was reportedly behind attacks against Israel, and was considered a “prominent commander” alongside Assad’s forces in Syria after the death of Qassam Soleimani. Hours after the assassination, Iran claimed to have arrested a “network of thugs” connected to the Mossad. That claim could not be verified by different media reporting the incident.
Some reports claimed that Iran had arrested the assailants, although that could not be confirmed. The Jerusalem Post reported that hours after the assassination, the IRGC claimed that it had arrested a “network of thugs” linked to the Mossad…
Iranian news outlet Jadeh Iran reported that Khodayari was a key figure in the country’s military industry and was involved with its drone program. In March, the IRGC fired missiles at a site in Erbil, Iraq which they said was used by the Mossad. The attack was reportedly in retaliation for an Israeli strike on an IRGC drone base in Mahidasht, Iran.
Iranian military operatives who lead attacks against Israel have a way of ending up dead on the streets of Tehran.
Little information was publicly available about Khodaei, as Quds officers tend to be shadowy figures carrying out secretive military missions supporting Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group, and other militias in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere.
The Tehran prosecutor arrived at the crime scene within hours of the killing to investigate and demanded police urgently arrest the perpetrators. The probe’s speed suggested Khodaei’s prominence in the murky structure of the Guard’s overseas operations.
Bottom line? The death of the IRGC Colonel means that another terrorist has been removed.
