“A tick-borne disease, does not spread easily from person to person. I don’t think we need to worry about a worldwide pandemic.”
****
Isn’t that what you said about Monkeypox? Did you check out the Drudgereport website today?
I haven’t looked at Drudge in years. So I just now took a peek. My, what over-the-top sensationalism! It would be hilarious if people weren’t getting sick.
Monkeypox normally has an R0 of less than one, not very contagious, but once it finds its way into a highly promiscuous and mobile segment of the gay community, it could really spread like wildfire, fast and far among them. Still, when you consider the super spreader events in Antwerp, Madrid, and Gran Canaria so far, it’s a wonder we haven’t seen more cases.
There have been other outbreaks outside Africa. The worst was in the US in 2003. All were readily contained. This is the first time it has got loose in the abovementioned population.
CCHF is only rarely transmitted from human to human, and when it does happen it’s almost always in a healthcare setting.
Oh, and I never ever said Monkey pod was tick-borne. It certainly isn’t.
