The wasting disease (CWD) originated from mink farms in Montana(?) feeding sheep offal. Sheep get “Scrapie”, which is prion, but hadn’t apparently been a big issue over time. Mink “escaped” (uh huh) from the farm(s) and introduced the material into western cervid (deer, elk) herds.
