No they aren’t.
If he was a cold blooded killer, he’d be out under NY’s “justice reform” bill, to murder again.
Kids need to learn there are consequences. Better now than when he’s 18 and can be tried as an adult.
East coast evidently didn’t get the west coast memo that stealing is no longer a crime.
Sometimes, that kind of treatment works, like it or not.
I have a story. When I was a child of about 7 or 8, I was on an evening outing with some other schoolchildren to play in Rock Creek Park in DC. Toward the end, somebody came by on a horse, a beautiful, brown animal; it might have been a horseback cop. We all stood around, patting the horse and talking.
At the end of the encounter, I made the mistake of walking behind the horse on the way back to the van. Our counselor caught up with me, took me aside, and asked, “Do you know what it feels like to be kicked by a horse?” I said, no? He said, “It’s like falling off your bicycle, then getting hit by a car.” He said some other stuff I don’t remember, then let me go.
I spend the ride back to the school in silent fear, terror and shame. For a while afterward, whenever I saw a horse, I would regard the animal with fear and suspicion. But I tell you what: to this day, I have never put myself in that kind of danger by walking behind a horse again!
Sometimes, these things work.
Apparently catching and scaring young kids while shoplifting is the best way to stop them from life of crime.
Once they grow up, they do not care anymore!
From police friends.
Its only a story cause the kid is black.
Mostly peacefully, of course.
Dontejavarious?
Too bad this isn’t the days when they could have woopped his butt as well. This is an old story. After the kid was taken home he then stole a bike. liberals and their mindset have screwed up the entire world.
LOL, slugs in the vending machine...!!!!
Different times, FRiend...different times!
I just saw a movie that gave me a flash-back-the cigarette machines where you pull the knob straight out towards you and it is spring loaded to return to position.
The butts would come out with a pack of matches...:)
I never smoked, but man, I saw a lot of those growing up!
It’s hilarious I can tell the race of the kid by the responses/reactions
The cops should have the cuffed and stuffed the kid’s parents in the cop car, telling the 7 year old that as a child, they were responsible for him and his criminal behavior.
This was several weeks ago. The following week, the same kid stole a bike from another youth.
And this is why people get away with theft
Bunch of wusses
When I was 11 years old, I remember when I was caught shoplifting and the store detectives called my Dad and boy my Dad was NOT happy.
The detectives were messing with me and said they would have to bring me downtown to strip search me. I was sobbing some when my Dad arrived. They let me go with Dad home but I was not allowed to return to the Payless on the corner of Homestead and De Anza Blvd. (Sunnyvale-Saratoga road).
On the way home, he detoured to our Catholic parish, Church of the Resurrection in Sunnyvale, CA. It was a Saturday, just in time for 4:00pm to 5:00pm Sacrament of Reconciliation. I was REALLY sorry for my sins and confessed. God forgave me.
I NEVER stole anything again for the rest of my life.
That is how you RAISE a boy.
Andy!
Ya got to nip it.
Nip it in the bud!
Indeed the next crime gets easier made men tap table.
