Only 1% of illicit drugs are interdicted.
Only 1% of prescription drugs are diverted.

The DEA spends an inordinate amount of time blaming opioid prescribers and manufacturers. Meanwhile cartels are relatively protected.

The reason is to seize assets of doctors and pharma companies. They must keep up the fiction that opioid prescribing caused the illicit drug crisis.
