I’ve seen plenty of squirrels in Nashville and their fat and healthy looking!
I recall having fried squirrel many a Saturday evening after Dad, Brother and I got back from a mid-day hunt.
Mom had a bowl of egg and a bowl of flower/salt/pepper to bread the chunks of squirrel before dropping them in a pot of sizzling hot Crisco.
Mashed potatoes, bread and gravy on the side.
We ate till we were stuffed.
