Former Alabama corrections officer Vicky White has died from her injuries after shooting herself while leading US Marshals on a car chase in Indiana.
Vicky and escaped murder suspect Casey White were captured Monday afternoon after an 11-day manhunt that spanned multiple states.
The pair were found at a motel and led authorities on a brief car chase in Evansville that lasted 'less than a few minutes,' according to Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding.
Authorities say they crashed into their Cadillac to stop them. Their car overturned and Casey White surrendered.
Vicky White, who was driving, shot herself at some point before she was captured and was taken to the hospital with 'very serious' injuries, Wedding said.
The Vandenburgh County Coroner said she died at 7.06pm on Monday, according to WHNT reporter Emily Moessner.
She faced up to 10 years in jail for helping Casey, a confessed killer who was already serving 75 years in prison, run away.
The two were set to be brought back to Lauderdale County, Alabama to face various charges in connection with the escape. Casey will also face outstanding capital murder charges related to a 2015 killing.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton thanked investigators from the various national agencies that helped them capture the pair, along with the media for shedding light on the story.
'Most escapes - from a county jail especially - they're not planned. They're just sort of spontaneous. There are no resources available, no plan in place,' he said during a press conference Monday evening.

There are descrepancies on who was driving. Another source said he was driving.
Why would he shoot her at that point seeing how he was giving up?
It sounds like the guy was pulled out and she punched her own ticket.

Guess they can tell by gunpowder residue on her hand. The guy is up on murder charges so, if convicted, he will go to jail for life anyhow.

A lot of folks expected the inmate would be the one to kill her and never thought she would be the one to off herself.
Not necessarily.
They deliberately hit the runaway car and caused it to crash.
Maybe possible he shot her after, but in the chaos of being overturned it probably would not be easy to get a gun and do it.

She should have planned the whole thing better while she was on the outside. Have multiple hidey holes with plenty of food and water. Hair color etc.
An uneducated guess here....Vicky was slowly going psychotic....she finally had the break...explains her quick sale of her house and bizarre escape plan and love for a convicted murderer...stopping off at a sextoy store?,...and her suicide.
