Two ditzy Valley Girls telling their classmates they invented Post It-Notes. Funny.
The song begins, "So no one told you life was gonna be this way," but one verse later it admits, "Your mother warned you there'd be days like these."
That's about all I know about the show. That, and the droopy faced guy from the show played Captain Sobel in, "Band of Brothers."
Friends may be many things, but one thing it is not is “the most iconic tv show of all time”.
For that I would nominate “The Honeymooners”.
But Mick used to watch it!
Yep. Hard to argue with these stats:
This was from the decade when there were just a few channels and most households had TVs.
So many good ones, but I’d have to go with “I Love Lucy”.
I don’t think I have ever seen an episode of Friends.
They are totally not entertaining and totally not funny.
What else is there in TV, circa 2000 and after.
In a way it is sad.
I liked it, when first aired, & I’ve watched reruns many times.
I Loved Lucy, but it was a presuccor of some of the greatest comedy of all time.
As much as I love Lucy, the shows that followed were ten times greater in content and performance than Lucy.
She led the way, but she was not the “bEST” example of fine comedy.
Thanks for the chart, I knew I had seen that somewhere.
“... I’d have to go with “I Love Lucy”.
That is valid!
I still remember some article I read, I think it was in TV Guide, where a fellow who came here from some foreign land said that watching I Love Lucy helped his family to learn English. That’s a good thing I think.
I never heard of him, but I do sort of remember his face in different sitcoms.
That's really sad. Anson Mount plays Captain Pike. I first watched him in "Hell on Wheels," which was an excellent series. Then they cast him as the Marvel character "Black Bolt" in the TV series "Inhumans." His character had to remain mute because his voice could cause devastation. That program was supposed to be the successor of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," but it failed miserably. It got canceled after its first season, and they had to extend "Agents" to fill the gap. Now he's appearing in this series. The guy is a good actor, but it seems that after "Hell on Wheels," he's been cast in horrible roles.
My youngest son got me into the Marvel programs and movies. I don't know all of the characters that Marvel has created. I grew up in the 50's, so we mostly read Superman and Batman & Robin DC comics...and MAD Magazine.
"most iconic tv show of all time"
I thought The Drew Carey Show was every bit as funny as Seinfeld.
Not as iconic though. Maybe the topics weren’t so easily packaged so that people could bring them up at the water cooler the next day. Seinfeld had a lot of practice in stand-up with “D’ja ever wonder” and “What’s the deal with” topics and had a gift for memorable lines.
