Any weight vehicle, regardless of what powers it, is going to take X amount of energy to get from point A to B. The only difference is going to be in efficiency losses.

Most of those losses, not withstanding the whole manufacturing chain, in a combustion engine are internal, while most of the electrics, which ARE higher, occur from burning it’s fuel somewhere else, then transmitting it to its “fill” destination and then converting it for the charge.

Leaving the fact that there isn’t enough lithium handy to make any appreciative dent in vehicle numbers there’s zero chance that electricity is going to be generated on a scale to charge these things. It’s ALL a control scam. Oil is always going to be pumped and if for some reason that’s tight it’s going to get made, and most of the avenues are going to have light fraction that will ALWAYS find it’s market as a fuel. If markets get to have their way, electric will fill a nice niche, but it’s never going to see 10’s of percent of the vehicle population. It’s a waste of talent and resources to subsidize the pursuit of the appearance of efficiency in electrics use-wise because by the time they achieve range and charge duration parity with gas they are going to net being less efficient overall than having a vehicle that operates on simpler proven technology that you operate by filling with a liquid fuel.
