Do you have ‘good’ days? Maybe good days could be your motivator to work on a little something on those days? :)

Your story reminds me of Card Parties at my Grandma Anita’s.

My sister and cousins and I would crawl under the biggest table and listen in on the adult conversations, too! :)

I’m a purist. All my quilts are hand made and quilted. I have a few of my grandmothers. One has fabrics of my Daddy’s shirts. If I can get hubby to put my new Ott Lite, maybe I can do something.

Thanks, Diana. Sorry to hear you’ve met the flu bug. After
all we heard during the scamdemic, it was thought he left town on the rails.

Who, here, remembers the CHRISTOPHER LOWELL SHOW on Discovery?
Did you enjoy it, discover new ideas and new ways to look at your home? Are there any sites or shows being broadcast that offer anything similar today? Personally, loved that show. Even as it begin to morph into the routine Discovery
‘beat the clock’ attitude, it would still be watched and taped. Really miss that afternoon hour of energy and spark.

What no pics yet? Here is my offering. Just finished the baby dress, and have a life like new newborn doll to try it on: Pattern is "Knit Baby Dress" was free from Jo Ann but no longer on their website. Glad I printed it out.

Yesterday, I mailed off 2 pairs of knitted fingerless mittens to relatives in FL. I’ve wanted to send them mittens for some time, but they’re already hitting high temps (90). My opportunity arrived when they let me know they’re headed to Canada later this month for some early season walleye fishing. The outfitter flies them into a remote lake with a cabin & they fish for about a week. They’ll fly back out, resupply over 2 days, then fly into another lake for a week. The weather is supposed to be very chilly if not downright cold - mitten weather :-)

The mittens aren’t for fishing - would be easy to get hooks caught in the stitches, but around the cabin & traveling, they might come in handy. I also gave the pastor a pair for his wife last month - they were headed to Norway on a cruise - spring temps were highs in the 50’s. Since I didn’t know her color preference, I gave her a gray pair that has some occasional black flecks (Tin Roof) - neutral color that should go with whatever she’s wearing. The fishermen are getting ‘Green Camo Stripe’ & ‘Cedar Cinnamon’ - both are very outdoorsy.

I have a long arm which helps a lot. It isn’t computerized so it’s all me. Right now, I have been making memory quilts so haven’t done much charity sewing. Have done quite a bit in the past, through my Guild.

LOL!

I suspect these guys have specialized gloves for actually fishing. The guy has to have the “latest & greatest” of everything. He has actually seen the crochet version of fingerless mitts a couple of years ago & liked them - this was when I first started doing them & made a pair for all the bowhunters in the family. My brother still has his original pair because he says they are his “lucky mitts” - they’ve even been elk hunting with him a couple of times. They’re getting pretty worn out & I made him a new crocheted pair last year in the same pattern, but he still uses the old ones.

Sitting at the car dealership getting my dad’s truck inspected. Driving is not an issue, but getting in with a brace on is problematic. It’s so high I had to get a folding stool to get in - put a rope on the stool & pulled it in after me :-) I’m on their free WiFi, but wish I’d brought my knitting!

Diana, thank you for this thread. Hope you are feeling better. I mended a pair of slacks for my son-in-law (does that count?), and shopped for my daughter to select fabric for some new placemats, while we were in FL a couple weeks ago.

This week, I actually bought 2 of the fabrics, plus an acceptable border coordinator fabric from Hobby Lobby, and the cloth has been washed and pressed. I am trying some sort of hefty pellon instead of batting this time ($$ savings). Will see how it goes. Just hoping the thread I have in mind will work, color-wise.

I made 12 placemats in March for my daughter-in-law, and will make 10 this round. After a year away from sewing for various reasons, and now retired, I am trying to start back into it with smallish goals.

I’ve been doing a lot of ‘crafty’ stuff. Got HOOKED this winter on some You Tube channels where the gals make new ‘home decor’ from things they find curbside or at Thrift Stores. Totally my wheelhouse!

Beau says, ‘So you take a piece of junk and make it into a prettier piece of junk?’

Yeah. Pretty much, LOL!

I’ll post some pictures of recent creations when I get to it.

Other than that, just working on my next crocheted afghan for the Iowa County Fair. Hoping to make it a ‘Blue Ribbon Three-Peat’ this season! I have little competition out here in the sticks. Big Fish, Little Pond as it were. ;)

I’m hedging my bets this season by also entering canned goods and photography. :)
