No one should be surprised; it's an issue on which the elected representatives in each state, not federal judges, should decide. It's always been a state-rights issue, a point the tortured logic in Roe v. Wade (an entirely outcome-based decision) implicitly make; even Silly Putty doesn't stretch as far as the inferences Justice Blackmun attempts in Roe.
