When I was a kid the mini-series "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" and "Elizabeth R" came out. Got fascinated with that history.

Henry was quite a stud when he was young!

I got hooked on the Tudor's and especially Henry VIII as a kid, when I saw THE LIFE OF HENRY VIII, on T.V., with Charles Laughton. Then a bit after that, I saw YOUNG BESS, in the movie theatre.

Like you, I too watched and loved "THE SIX WIVES OF HENRY VIII" and "ELIZABETH R" on PBS. As a matter of fact, I think that I have seen every single movie and T.V. series about these two rulers, that have ever been made; not to mention all of the books written about these two/having them in books, along with other Kings and Queens.

Yes, contemporaneous writers claim that Henry was a stunning youth and man, until his wretched accident.

Are you sure that that painting is of the English Henry VIII? He had red hair and that portrait shows someone with very dark hair.
