A) Senate tees up vote on Ukraine aid bill next week. Since Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) blocked speedy approval of the $40 billion Ukraine aid bill – supported by senators from both sides – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has just filed cloture to end debate on the bill.

B) That vote will need 60 yeas to clear Paul’s filibuster. The Senate will have to vote clear the filibuster next week and later on vote to pass the underlying bill to sync up with the House.
