Food Riots In Sri Lanka Turn Deadly As Protesters Beat Up Police, Burn Down Politicians’ Houses

Daftari is right, and not just about Iran (and Iraq), but also Sri Lanka, where protesters angry at the soaring prices of everyday commodities including food, have burned down homes belonging to 38 politicians as the crisis-hit country plunged further into chaos, with the government ordering troops to “shoot on sight.”

Police in the island nation said Tuesday that in addition to the destroyed homes, 75 others have been damaged as angry Sri Lankans continue to defy a nationwide curfew to protest against what they say is the government’s mishandling of the country’s worst economic crisis since 1948.

Riots in Sri Lanka after the local green movement’s ESG organic farming beliefs were implemented into law.

Crops failed. There is not enough food. People are beating up police and burning down politicians houses.

Don’t let it happen here, avoid ESG.

https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/food-riots-sri-lanka-turn-deadly-protesters-beat-police-burn-down-politicians-houses

A lot more at link, but a main problem in Sri Lanka is they got taken by ESG, a climate change gimmick that fails everywhere.

In Sri Lanka, Organic Farming Went Catastrophically Wrong

Faced with a deepening economic and humanitarian crisis, Sri Lanka called off an ill-conceived national experiment in organic agriculture this winter. Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa promised in his 2019 election campaign to transition the country’s farmers to organic agriculture over a period of 10 years. Last April, Rajapaksa’s government made good on that promise, imposing a nationwide ban on the importation and use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides and ordering the country’s 2 million farmers to go organic.

The result was brutal and swift. Against claims that organic methods can produce comparable yields to conventional farming, domestic rice production fell 20 percent in just the first six months. Sri Lanka, long self-sufficient in rice production, has been forced to import $450 million worth of rice even as domestic prices for this staple of the national diet surged by around 50 percent. The ban also devastated the nation’s tea crop, its primary export and source of foreign exchange.

Human costs have been even greater. Prior to the pandemic’s outbreak, the country had proudly achieved upper-middle-income status. Today, half a million people have sunk back into poverty. Soaring inflation and a rapidly depreciating currency have forced Sri Lankans to cut down on food and fuel purchases as prices surge. The country’s economists have called on the government to default on its debt repayments to buy essential supplies for its people.

The farrago of magical thinking, technocratic hubris, ideological delusion, self-dealing, and sheer shortsightedness that produced the crisis in Sri Lanka implicates both the country’s political leadership and advocates of so-called sustainable agriculture: the former for seizing on the organic agriculture pledge as a shortsighted measure to slash fertilizer subsidies and imports and the latter for suggesting that such a transformation of the nation’s agricultural sector could ever possibly succeed.

With our fertilizer problems, is this the work of the Great reset, using Ukraine as a reason? They know it would be hard in America to do this.

At first her family said that she died from mental illness. I actually believe that most people who commit suicide are mentally ill. The strongest natural instinct of a human being is to stay alive. Committing suicide goes against all of that. Suicide is very sad, especially for loved ones left behind.

It’s a small world:

EXCLUSIVE: Don Jr’s Newest Gun-Making ‘Buddy’ Is The Father Of Hunter Biden’s Baby Mama

“Proud to have delivered a custom build to a man that needs no introduction,” Roberts’ May 3 post on his company’s Instagram page, “Rob Roberts Custom Gun Works,” says.

“Good times buddy,” Trump Jr. responded to the post.

Rob Roberts is the father of Lunden Roberts, who proved President Joe Biden’s son is the father of their 3-year-old daughter Navy Joan Roberts through a paternity test. Hunter Biden has never seen his daughter or expressed any desire to do so, Lunden Roberts’ lawyer, Clint Lancaster, told CNBC.

Rob Roberts is also seen in a picture with Trump Jr. visiting “Freedom Farms” May 2, a 2,000-acre hunting retreat in the hills of Tennessee owned by Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts.

“Hell yea baby,” Trump Jr. commented.

Rob Roberts’ custom gun company shows the American flag and a thin blue line flag on its website, and says “We proudly support our military personnel and law enforcement officers.”

He has posted footage of Lunden Roberts shooting a gun in the past, with the caption “Rob Roberts’ daughter Lunden trying her luck with 500 S&W. Great shot! Lots of recoil!!!! Our girls can handle big guns.”

Rob Roberts spoke out about gun rights in a 2020 post, urging people to go out and vote.

NATIONAL DATA: What The Regime Media Didn’t Tell You—Immigrants Displaced American Workers In April; Inflation-Adjusted Wages Fell

We are told incessantly that the labor market is strong, that the demand for labor is far greater than the supply. If true, employers should be raising wages to lure workers back to work. But that didn’t happen:

The Household Employment Survey shows a far bleaker picture of the macro job situation for April: total employment shrank by 353,000—a 0.2% drop—with immigrants (legal and illegal, federal data does not distinguish) gaining jobs while native-born Americans were losing them. One likely explanation for the difference: U.S. businesses are reluctant to acknowledge illegals working “off the books.” This illicit workforce is counted in the Household Employment Survey, but not in the Payroll Employment Survey.

In April:

Immigrants gained 274,000 jobs, a 1.0% increase from March
Native-born Americans lost 627,000 positions, a 0.5% fall from March
Thus VDARE.com’s immigrant employment index, set at 100.0 in January 2009, rose to 131.7 from 130.4 in March, a 1.0% increase
VDARE.com’s Native-Born employment index fell to 107.5 from 108.0, a 0.5% decline.

George P. Bush knocks Texas attorney general rival Ken Paxton over tough critical race theory stance

George P. Bush said he would not litigate against rogue government agencies violating state laws on teaching critical race theory or imposing COVID-19 mandates.

During a campaign stop for Texas attorney general, Bush said he wants to “stay out of the courthouse” and criticized incumbent Attorney General Ken Paxton for bringing lawsuits against school districts who refused to comply with the governor’s executive order on COVID-19 mandates.

In July 2021, GOP Gov. Greg Abbott outlawed any mask or vaccine requirement by a government agency.

Rachael Compos made a good point; they are probably looking for the BP whistleblower about the baby formula than they are looking for the terrorists that got through.

Back in the day, anything from Vdare was strictly prohibited on FR. You would have your thread pulled immediately & warned, if not banned.

That was when we barely could post about illegal immigrants & could not get an "aliens" keyword. I & another poster had an illegal alien ping list.

Abbott
@AbbottNews

At the White House press conference today, the Press Secretary mistakenly said that our formulas were tainted and killed two infants. The deaths of these infants are a tragedy.

The facts, however, are critical: A comprehensive investigation by Abbott, FDA and CDC found no evidence that our formulas caused infant illnesses. Specifically...

CDC concluded its investigation with no findings of a link between our formulas and infant illnesses.

We conduct microbiological testing on products prior to distribution and no Abbott formula distributed to consumers tested positive for Cronobacter or Salmonella.

All retained product tested by Abbott and the FDA during the inspection of the facility came back negative for Cronobacter and/or Salmonella. No Salmonella was found at the Sturgis facility.

The Cronobacter sakazakii that was found in environmental testing during the investigation was in non-product contact areas of the facility and has not been linked to any known infant illness.

Genetic sequencing on the two available samples from ill infants did not match strains of Cronobacter in our plant. Samples from ill infants did not match each other, meaning there was no connection between the two cases.

In all four cases, the state, FDA, and/or CDC tested samples of the Abbott formula that was used by the child. In all four cases, all unopened containers tested negative.

Open containers from the homes of the infants were also tested in three of the four cases; two of the three tested negative. The one positive was from an open container from the home of the infant, and it tested positive for two different strains of Cronobacter sakazakii…

…one of which matched the strain that caused the infant’s infection, and the other matched a strain found on a bottle of distilled water in the home used to mix the formula. Again, neither strain matched strains found in our plant.

The infants consumed four different types of our formula made over the course of nearly a year and the illnesses took place over several months in three different states.

The formula from this plant did not cause these infant illnesses.
