For 70 years Ukraine was ruled by the Soviet Union and the region was at virtual peace.

Ukraine has not been ruled by Russia since 1991. In the 70 years before that, there were only the 5 million killed by the Russians in the forced famine of the 1930s, and then WWII.

Kind of a weird way to define "virtual peace".

Your link to support that assertion is interesting...it seems the Politboro member Stalin confided in about Ukraine's famine was a Bolshevik named Lazar Kaganovich from Kiev.

Kaganovich led a hard line faction within the Politboro against Sergei Kirov, a Russian who favored the relaxation of Stalin's harsh controls. As a result of this power struggle Kirov was assassinated.

So it would seem that the two men most responsible for the hardships endured during the famine were Stalin from Tblisi Georgia and Kaganovich from Kiev Ukraine...and the man who was killed for opposing them was Kirov from Russia.

Perhaps you should adjust your rhetoric accordingly.

Yeah, kinda like saying that "Those three prostitutes I have chained up down in my basement - they're real peaceful!"

Regards,
