Is your argument one in which the parents hold no responsibility for their child. Parents with whom our legal system gives responsibility for children under the age of consent. As to the “how about we hold the criminals to account” quip, sure let’s do that, for people beyond the age of consent, aka adults. I’m right there with you. But what to do you with an eight year old if not look to the parents?
