When my daughter was little she wanted a fire engine for Christmas. That was fine with us. She is now a highly paid engineer.
Her femininity is clearly indicated by the fact that she still has that fire engine in her forties and it is in practically new condition. Every toy I ever had succumbed quickly to some form of childish physics experiment.
I remember first thing we did with a new Tonka truck was throw it in the little creek, then drive it out through the mud etc...
Things got used.
