The harsh reality is that an employee must produce more value than the cost of wages and benefits to have that employee on the payroll. Pushing minimum wage up ensures that the requirements to be hired will exceed the skills and qualifications of a larger number of potential applicants. It also means that some currently employed people will be terminated as being too unproductive to retain.

The issue is never the issue.

The issue is always the Revolution.

“I’ll see your $45 and raise you $100!”

I just spoke with a man who said he could not find anyone - not even young people - who would help put up fence wire for $20.00 per hour.

I don’t see that as a good thing.

The federal government has printed trillions of dollars and we still have inflation.

Our local "Uncle Jim's" restaurant can barely keep enough staff to operate 7 AM to 3 PM daily. The dinner menu is gone. Too bad. The Greek specialties offered Wednesday->Saturday night were unmatched locally. The local Butterburr's has similar issues keeping a full staff. McDonald's is running radio ads (corporate) trying to attract applicants. The ad notes that many stores are franchise operations with their own hiring policies and hours.

Econ 101. Make operating costs inoperable and you shutter the business.

“Change back from your dollar” was the McD tagline for quite a while.

Well if you go ahead and pay me $350 dollars an hour, I bet I can cover that.

And then a loaf of bread will be about $8.00. How can people be so ignorant?

Give me his number; I have experience, and will do it for $15.00 under the table...plus travel from South Dakota. LOL

Need to set a new floor for “prevailing wage” union scale wage rates.

Yes; union, especially 'public sector' unions, and their parity clauses.

I’m certain he is going to be interested until I tell him he will have to pay cab fare all the way across the continent and take the risk of you getting shipping fever.

He’ll probably just send you his matched buggy mules. You ought to have plenty of open range out there.
