If in fact Gates did short Tesla stock, we do not know when that transaction (or multiple transactions) took place.

Tesla peaked in November 2021 at more than $1,200 a share.

Its Price/Earnings ratio at that time was at least a staggering 250!

Then, Tesla briefly crashed all the way back down to $700 in February 2022.

Since that low, it has rallied back strongly to $1,000 a share.

Based on the alleged comments that Bill Gates made, Gates seems to indicate that he has made money on the Tesla short, and that he wants to donate that profit to a charity.

I hope Gates is upside down on the open shorts.

I think the charity and the stock positions are two different things.

it reads like implied extortion to me.

he may think musk cares about the short. musk asked, so maybe he does.

gates would not need to talk to musk or anyone about what to do with his own profits.

every time Gates is caught doing nefarious acts he pulls out that bogus charity bit.

The “charity” is controlled by his estate, and primarily benefits his family.

He could dispense of “charity” money any time - there are tons of starving needy homeless people all over the world....
