[[What I really miss? Keys WITHOUT BUILT-IN FOBS!]]

Yep, and have keys made a t local hardware store thst both unlo k the car and start it without costing near $100 for one key.

Hardware stores used to crank out spare keys for like a few dollars, now car manufacturers have that stupid fob and anti theft nonsense that only allow a certain number of replacement keys before the whole dang anti theft unit has to be replaced, and it’s not many keys either. In the old days you could have a bunch of keys and never were limtited.

“without costing near $100 for one key.”

$100?! I wish! Had to get a new key for my 12 year old BMW and it was $250! The dang car isn’t worth much more than that.

I vote for keyless entry for the reason that many crimes are committed in the parking lot of the big box stores.

Keyless entry enables the women to quickly open the door even though her arms are full of packages, baby or whatnot, rather than having do dig her key ring out of her purse and select the proper key all the while concentrating on the keys rather than her surroundings.

The problem is not with keyless entry. The problem is with the manufacturers who have made replacement or spares very expensive.

In other words, a rip off.

More like $250.00 where I live and don't even mention keyless car fobs. Truth is I bought two Toyota cars in the last twenty years, never spent a dime on anything except tires and batteries. I have a 2001 Ford Expedition for bug out car, wife just bought new Highlander with more features than I can use will be the last car I will ever buy because it will about last me for sure. Well if they don't outlaw gas cars before then it will.

I drive a lot so bought a Ford Extended Service Plan warranty when I bought the car in 2017. Not sure what one can haggle it down to anymore but I think I got about 50% off.

Anyhow, my Focus was in the shop a few weeks ago. First time in almost 5 years and 97,000 miles it broke down. Starter went out. I was reviewing my extended warranty and, what do you know! It covers losing that damned key fob! I called and asked and sure enough they replaced it for free.
