“Not sure about today, but in CT,at one time, it was the law to have windshield wipers, but it wasn’t a law that you had to have a windshield.”
Back in my mis-spent youth, I had a rail type dune buggy that was about 1/2 day work from being a competitive race car.
Got stopped for routine harassment by the local PD one day and got in a debate about the lack of wipers.
It ended with “what are they supposed to do, flap around in the air?”
“Are you being smart with me?”
I had no reply.
So, the worst that could happen is parent getting a *stern* talking to by a cop or a dirty look.

Somehow I missed this tread lots of good topics.
Just a bit off topic but years ago had the chance to camp out on the Padre Island National Seashore several times (sex in the dunes is not like the movies that gritty sand is not good)
Many times waking up in the night with really tricked out pickups going down the island passing by. Get down to the Port Mansfield Jetties and there are many VW dune buggy types full of surfers. Them 200lbs guys did not have to worry about getting stuck in soft sand just pick up the VW and move to a better place.
