It will be interesting if hard evidence of this organization can be turned over the the German or EU prosecutors for review and indictment. The Europeans way worse on breach of privacy issues with tougher laws and motivation to action than the US.

Well it was funded by the German government, so it won’t go anywhere. They still hate Jews.

So to explain where this comes from...

The funding comes from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The funding, as far as I know...did not exist prior to 2016.

I will say (since living in Germany for the past 9 years)...2016 is this unique year where Germans (particularly gov’t officials) freaked out over Trump beating Clinton.

I suspect that in 2017....with Twitter employees showing up and trying to convince everyone that social media is what got the Trump ‘win’...individuals felt the need to prevent such things from developing. If one digs into the funding...I would assume it began in 2018 (under Merkel Party officials) and the key phrase in their mind....they were preventing extreme right-wing or neo-Nazis from using social media in the future.

I also think that if you asked what services they were getting from the gov’t funding effort....they have virtually no idea (that’s how screwed-up the whole thing might be).

As for anyone in the EU or German government getting into a truth-commission setting? No, that will never happen. You’d have to have the injured party (in the US) trigger a German court episode and aim primary at the Federal Ministry who gave funding. That would trigger public embarrassment enough for the funding to halt.

“The Europeans way worse on breach of privacy issues with tougher laws and motivation to action than the US.”

They are also way worse on “hate speech” craziness as well. So it might be an interesting test since it puts these two competing values in direct conflict. We’ll see if they love their privacy more than they love enforcing ideological compliance.
