Almost there (pain free) except for my sleep posture... still sitting up as I have yet to master laying flat for the duration.

Broken ribs—ouch, ouch, ouch. I’ve done that just by being a klutz.
If you can find a length of slippery material like a satin pillowcase and place it under your butt and upper thighs, it will pretty much eliminate the friction between your clothes and the chair/bed, making it much easier to rise.
I know it sounds weird, but it works well.
