Why are Americans so freaking excited about this and the Ukraine in general? You people are rooting for the Ukraine just like you’re rooting for ‘YOUR TEAM’ in the Superbowl.

You chose sides like this is a sporting event and it’s disgusting.

Interesting definition of disgusting.

What I find “disgusting” is muslim Chechen filth raping and murdering Ukrainian women. What I find “disgusting” is the US projecting weakness and so-called conservatives running like cowards in the face of Russian mass murder and genocidal tactics.

You bet our enemies like China and Iran are noticing, too. Conservativism without core values will not exist as a political movement. It’s that simple.

Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world. Period. Russia is being ruled by a dictator with visions of restoring the old Soviet Union’s empire.

My interest in this is in watching the relative effectiveness of two country’s military capabilities. Nothing more.

Russian military capability is being exposed for the lie we helped to create in the Cold War to prop up military spending.

It is also handy in underlining the lesson the US already learned over the last 25 years - taking a country is one thing, but holding it is quite another.

I’m convinced a direct non-nuclear military engagement between the US and the Russians would end quickly, positively and decisively.

I’m absolutely gobsmacked that the Russians have lost tanks equivalent of over two full divisions. I’m amazed that the flagship of their task force has been evacuated (as per the Russians) and that they have lost other capital ships and air assets.

Now they are threatening Finland and Sweden. (With what, and soon, with whom? Mothers are making life very difficult for Putin at the moment and Putin is conscripting men and making them operational without the benefit of even basic training).

Leave it to the Europeans to cock up things and have a major land war every eighty years or so.

I’m not sure the average person understands the complexity and cost of sustaining 100,000 armed men in the field. Putin certainly didn’t grasp it, and apparently neither did his command staff or his colonels or they’d have made sure their gear was ready for deployment. Relying on rail to get things from point A to point B was another head scratcher.

In all, it is so odd to see actual military reality played out before us as a counter to the bullsh!t we were fed my entire life about the capability of the Russian (and Chinese) military. It’s perverse to witness, I admit.

However, I’m not rooting for either side. In fact, to the extent they can wipe each other out, satisfactory. A horrible thing to think about and admit, but there you go. You want to fight, take it outside the bar. Eventually you’ll both get tired of fighting and buy each other a beer.

I’m interested in a weak Russia and Ukraine. I’m interested in China looking on and perhaps deciding that all that Russian oil may be worth losing 80M men you can afford to lose in the first place. I’m also interested in whether the Chinese appreciate how non-operational their own military assets are and that if they actually had to use them like the Russians are now, they’d fare even worse.

May they both lose, and may China be emboldened to attempt an invasion of Russia and the lie of their vaunted military prowess be exposed. India is watching as well. I believe India might fare better than Ukraine in staving off either Russia or China (or both).
